CSU New Generation of Educators
Our Community Members
The New Generation of Educators Community is for CSU faculty as well as K-12 and community college educators participating in reforms that prepare future and current elementary and secondary teachers for instruction using the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The Community is part of a CSU systemwide partnership with the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation and is designed to prepare world-class teachers in the state of California.
Promoting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
The New Generation of Educators Community is based upon the concept of a “teaching commons” whereby the community of educational professionals advance preparation of educators in all capacities through sharing of ideas, practices, information, and resources.
A Chronicle of Higher Education Op-Ed
California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White co-authored this Op-Ed on the important role of higher education in supporting and advancing the Common Core State Standards. The article underscores the significant potential of the Common Core for eliminating the need for college remediation.
A Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education Brief
This brief examines the CCSS and their implications for Linked Learning, an innovative high school reform approach in California that prepares students for college and career by connecting learning in the classroom with real-world applications outside of school. This brief addresses the ways in which the standards align with and can be adopted by Linked Learning teachers, schools, and districts to ensure that all their students are ready for success in college, careers, and citizenship.
CSU faculty engaged in preparation and professional development for elementary and secondary teachers can share high quality resources and make them available through this web site and through the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT - ). MERLOT provides CSU faculty and partners an opportunity to "publish" online, to develop comprehensive personal collections of valuable resources, and to make contributions to this growing digital library.
